Girls Happy to Receive Dignity Packs
Girl learners from disadvantaged backgrounds often face serious challenges when it comes to hygiene and sanitation. For many, access to basic menstrual health products is not guaranteed, and this reality can impact attendance, concentration, confidence and overall wellbeing.
In response, the Rustenburg Community Development Trust (RCDT) distributed dignity packs to young girls in the community, ensuring they have access to essential sanitary products and hygiene items.
This initiative goes beyond providing materials. It restores dignity.
Why Dignity Packs Matter
When girls lack access to sanitary products, they may miss school during their menstrual cycle. Over time, this contributes to learning gaps and reduced academic performance. By providing dignity packs, RCDT is directly supporting:
-
Improved school attendance
-
Greater confidence and self-esteem
-
Better hygiene and health awareness
-
Reduced stigma around menstrual health
Each pack includes essential hygiene products carefully selected to meet practical needs, helping learners manage their menstrual cycles safely and confidently.
Breaking the Silence
Alongside distribution, the programme encourages open conversations about menstrual health and personal hygiene. Education remains key to dismantling stigma and equipping young women with the knowledge they need to care for themselves.
Through initiatives like this, RCDT continues to invest in holistic community upliftment – addressing real challenges with practical solutions that protect dignity and unlock potential.
Because when girls are supported, communities thrive.
