MAKING A LASTING DIFFERENCE, ONE PROJECT AT A TIME

TURNING VISION INTO ACTION

At the Rustenburg Community Development Trust (RCDT), impact is measured through outcomes.

RCDT supports enterprises, enables job creation and strengthens community initiatives across Rustenburg. Our annual reporting reflects a commitment to transparency and evidence-based evaluation.

Each year, we assess performance against objectives, measure outcomes achieved and refine our approach to ensure continuous improvement.

DRIVING IMPACT TOGETHER

OUR FIVE-YEAR VISION FOR COMMUNITY IMPACT

Our goal is clear: to become the trusted partner for individuals and organisations committed to making a positive impact in Rustenburg. Over the next five years, we will tackle local challenges head-on to drive change, improve livelihoods, promote self-sufficiency and build long-term resilience. We are committed to delivering projects that produce real, measurable results. Our community-first approach is focused on food security, sustainable job creation and supporting local entrepreneurs. The challenges are significant, but so are the opportunities.

BUILDING SUSTAINABLE ECOSYSTEMS

Sustainable change requires more than isolated interventions; it requires ecosystems that nurture innovation, support entrepreneurs and create lasting opportunities. By strategically investing in business creation, scalable ideas and local economic participation, we aim to foster environments where communities thrive, households become more resilient and businesses can grow sustainably. These ecosystems encourage creativity at the grassroots level, strengthen local enterprise networks and provide the support systems necessary for long-term success. In doing so, we create a foundation where both people and businesses can reach their full potential.

HOW DO WE MAKE AN IMPACT?

WHO WE SUPPORT

Our work spans 5 regions and 65 villages, concentrating on communities where our support can make the greatest difference. We listen, collaborate and ensure every initiative meets real local needs. While we have defined focus areas, we remain flexible by supporting projects in the wider Integrated Benefit Area (IBA) that deliver lasting benefits.

OUR INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE

We invest in initiatives that build stronger, healthier and more sustainable communities. From young people seeking hope and pathways to economic participation, to elderly residents pursuing active and engaged lives, our goal is to create opportunities and positive outcomes for all individuals, regardless of age or circumstance.

IMPACT ACROSS GENERATIONS

Our work is designed to leave a lasting mark across generations. By supporting inclusive development, we aim to empower households, strengthen communities and nurture environments where every individual can thrive, creating sustainable change that benefits today and tomorrow.

OUR BENEFICIARY FOOTPRINT

The Rustenburg Community Development Trust operates within a defined geographic footprint centred around the Alchemy mining operation.

At the core of this footprint is the Alchemy Benefit Area (ABA). This area includes communities and settlements located within approximately 15 km of the mine lease boundary, where many of the Trust’s programmes and development initiatives are concentrated.

Beyond this lies the Integrated Benefit Area (IBA), which extends to a radius of 50 km from the mining operation. This broader area reflects the regional context in which the Trust operates and enables collaboration with additional communities and stakeholders.

While these boundaries help guide planning and development priorities, they are not rigid limits. In line with Alchemy’s principle of non-partisanship, the Trust may also support cooperative development initiatives that benefit communities across the wider region.
